Winter green manure is a traditional source of organic manure in the South. There are many benefits to developing green manure: less investment and higher fertilizer efficiency. The cultivation of green manure requires only a small amount of seed and fertilizer, which is planted in situ and used on the spot, saving manpower and capacity compared to other organic fertilizers. Green manure is rich in organic matter and contains nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and various trace elements. It breaks down fast and has a rapid fertilizer effect. Because green manure contains a large amount of organic matter, it can improve the soil structure and improve soil water retention, fertilizer retention, and fertilizer supply.
a. timely harvest or overturn. Premature green manure yield is low, young plants are young, decomposition is rapid after pressing, and the fertilizer effect is short; overturning is too late, green manure plants are aged, nutrients are transferred to the seeds, the nutrient content of stems and leaves is low, and the ratio of carbon to nitrogen in stems and leaves is lower. Large, not easy to decompose in the soil, reducing fertilizer efficiency. The suitable turning time for common legume green manure plants is from full bloom to florescence; the grass green manure plants are best turned over at the heading stage, and the cruciferous green manure plants are best during the period of upper flower sorghum and the intercropping of green manure crops. It should be consistent with the law of demand and fertility of the crop after the crop.
b. Rolling time and method: Turning time is about 40 days before transplanting. Two types of overturning methods are mowing and turning. Mowing over pressure: The green manure is cut 20cm from the ground, and cut into 20-30cm segments and then turned over. The depth of overturning pressure is 10-20cm. The ridge overturns the pressure: The green manure is cut and evenly laid on the ditch, and the soil is plowed. Pressure depth 10-20cm. Sandy soil can be deep, clay soil can be shallow.
c. The application rate of green manure. It depends on the type of green manure, climate characteristics, soil fertility, and crop nutrient needs. Generally, 1000-1500 kilograms of fresh seedlings in Mushi can basically meet the needs of crops. Excessive application rate may result in late maturity of flue-cured tobacco.
