Japanese research says that making universal cells can not use oncogenes
Since the release of omnipotent cells from human skin last month, on December 1st, Professor Yamanaka Yamanaka of the University of Kyoto in Japan published the latest research in the journal Nature Science and Technology. Oncogenes, but now even without this oncogene, can make omnipotent cells. This achievement will greatly enhance the safety of clinical applications. Professor Yamanaka's research team formed a versatile cell by injecting four genes into skin cells, but these genes contain c-Myc, a carcinogenic gene. The mice produced by the omnipotent cells developed by this method have 6 of 37 mice. It is only carcinogenic, that is, about 20% of the cases will develop tumors. These carcinogenic mice will die in about 100 days. After further research, the Yamauchi group removed the c-Myc, a carcinogenic gene among the four genes, and injected the other three genes into skin cells for experiments. After adjusting the culture conditions, new omnipotent cells were created. Twenty-six mice bred by the cells did not cause carcinogenesis after 100 days of feeding. Professor Yamanaka said that although the research method has made a breakthrough in security, it does not solve all security problems. Because the virus is needed to inject the gene into the skin cells, the virus may still cause cancer, and further research is needed to solve this problem in the future.
