Kale cultivation points

Kale, also known as leaf peony, is a biennial herb that's easy to grow and fast to mature, making it a popular choice for colorful foliage displays. Widely used in parks, streets, and flower beds, kale is often pruned into attractive shapes, offering striking visual effects. Its vibrant colors—ranging from light red, purple, white, to yellow—make it an ideal plant for ornamental purposes. With a long观赏 period lasting from November to March of the following year, it's a favorite for seasonal decoration. Kale thrives in sunny and well-drained conditions. It can be grown both in open fields and containers, preferring sandy loam soil. The best time to sow seeds is between mid-July and late August. The seedbed should have fine soil particles, and the ground must be level. Before planting, the area should be evenly prepared and watered. After sowing the seeds, cover them with sifted soil and place a layer of grass or shade net on top to maintain moisture. Once about 50% of the seedlings emerge, remove the covering in the evening. When the leaves start to appear, transplant the seedlings in groups of 3–4, spacing them about 20 cm apart. Apply a base fertilizer (such as compound or organic fertilizer) to the seedbeds. Once the plants have developed 7–8 leaves, they can be transplanted into their final location. The recommended spacing is 40–45 cm apart. For container planting, kale can be directly planted in pots. After planting, water thoroughly and then water every 7–8 days. Typically, kale is moved to flower beds or pots in mid to late October. When grown in pots, it requires daily watering to maintain a balance between dry and moist soil. This care ensures healthy growth and beautiful foliage throughout the season.
