The breeding performance of ducks varies greatly depending on the type of breed. Generally, the appropriate ratio of male to female is 1:2-25 for egg-type ducklings, 1:15-20 for ducks for combined use, and 1:5-8 for meat-type ducks.

In addition to the breeding ratio and species type, the mating performance is also affected by the following factors, and farmers can make appropriate adjustments according to their feeding needs.
Fourth, feeding and management factors
Under good husbandry conditions, especially for grazing ducks, due to the availability of rich animal feed, the breeding performance is enhanced. Therefore, the proportion of male ducks can be reduced appropriately.
V. Seasonal factors
In early spring, the climate is cold and ducks are affected by sexual activity. The proportion of male ducks should be increased by about 2% (based on the number of female ducks).
Sixth, the time between male and female gregarious factors
Prior to the breeding season, appropriate early horticulture can increase fertility in female ducks. The proportion of male ducks at the beginning of the gregarious period may be slightly higher. For example, the male to female ratio of egg-type ducks may be 1:14 to 16; after 20 days, it may be changed to 1:25. Therefore, the male duck should be put into the mother duck group as early as possible in large group breeding.
