Artificial intelligence application transforms from advertising marketing to medical health

The hottest topic in the entire startup circle is probably non-artificial intelligence. Just last week, Amazon, Facebook, Google, IBM and Microsoft jointly formed a coalition of Partnership on AI.

Artificial intelligence is already a strategic highland that many technology giants are vying for. Other small companies are also applying it to various fields quickly. Among them, health care is the hottest one.

Last month, Microsoft announced plans to use AI for medical health, Hanover, who are trying to help find the most effective drugs and treatments. In addition, Microsoft is still studying how cancer can spread in different patients' bodies, even researching the creation of biological cells like computer programming.

Microsoft will not be the only player in the smart medical field. In fact, IBM's Watson is the first technology giant to deploy this field. In May 2015, IBM announced the launch of the Watson Health service, collecting health data and handing it to the Watson supercomputer for analysis, and Apple and companies and institutions in the medical industry have established various partnerships.

Google's DeepMind also collaborated on similar medical research with UCH University Hospital in the UK, and also invested in Babylon Health in the UK; Google also voted for Zephyr Health and Flatiron Health.

China's Tencent is also heavily deployed in the smart medical field. In April this year, it invested in Shenzhen's carbon cloud smart iCarbonX 150 million US dollars, before investing in CloudMedX in the Bay Area. Also investing in CloudMedX includes venture capital firm Y Combinator, which has also invested in Atomwise, analyticsMD, EnsoData, Envisagenics and many more; and YC is equally interested in Khosla Ventures.

According to CB Insights, the world's 92 AI medical health startups, as of the end of August this year, the global health care sector and AI-related equity financing transactions have reached 55 times, compared with only 8 times in 2011.

From the scope of AI applications, in all transactions with AI technology-related startups, the proportion of health care sector rose from 11% in 2011 to 15% in 2015. At the same time, from the investment heat map of AI application, we can see that the application of AI has gradually shifted from advertising marketing to health care.
