High-stock grafting technique of camellia

Camellia is a evergreen shrub of the family Camellia, but the flower grows at a slower rate regardless of cuttings or branching. Generally, it takes three to four years for the pot to form. In recent years, the use of oil tea high-stock grafting in the southern region, the survival rate of more than 90%, when the new seedlings up to 50 cm, within two years will be able to flower. The grafting technology is now described as follows:

1. Selection of rootstocks: Camellia and Flos Sophora are the same family of plants, with strong affinity, and the white flower Camellia has strong adaptability, rapid growth and strong sprouting power. Therefore, it is best to choose a white flower oily tea with strong growth, no pests, and many branches.

2. Scion selection: Scions should be selected from fine clones and branches in the upper and outer branches of the tree. Camellia should use the branches of the tree species that are required to grow robustly, have full buds, have normal leaf color, and have no pests and diseases. In spring, the spring shoots are used in the year, and in autumn, the spring shoots or summer shoots made in the year are used as scion. Collect in the early morning and place it in a water-filled pot or cup to avoid dehydration. Scion is best to pick and pick, picky branches, old branches and pests and branches.

3, grafting time: In order to improve the survival rate of grafting, must be in the rootstock moisture, nutrient swimming, absorption period, generally in the May-September can be grafted, according to test results show that the best grafting time from June to July. At this time, the temperature was suitable. When the camellia scion was lignified, the transplanted tea seedlings had survived and the grafting survival rate was as high as 90% or more.

4, grafting method: First, the broken anvil. For each tea tree, select 2-4 branches with different directions, smooth stems, and no pests as grafting rootstocks. The rootstock is cut off at 40-80 cm from the ground. When the anvil is broken, it prevents the rootstock from tearing. After cutting the anvil, the incision is slightly lightened. Each tree leaves 2-3 branches for vegetative branches and shade, and most branches are sawn off. The second is cutting the anvil. According to the size and length of the scion, use a single-sided knife to cut down at the rootstock fracture, with a point xylem. If more than two scions should be connected on one rootstock, cut two on both sides of the rootstock in parallel. The orientation of the cutting blade should be taken into account in the direction of growth of the new shoots after live cutting, and it is advisable to favor the formation of Camellia. The third is cutting scion. Put the branches that cut the scions on the wooden board, hold the branches in one hand, and cut the knife from the 3-5 mm below the base of the bud on the opposite side of the bud with a single blade in one hand. Cut the surface by 2 cm, and slightly see the xylem. Tilt inside, obliquely to the medullary heart at the base of the scion. A short incision was made at the base of the scion on the other side of the scion. The incision was cut into a 20-30 degree incline. The shoots were cut at the point 5 mm above the shoot and became 1 bud and 1 leaf scion. Leave 1 leaf on the scion (1/2-2/3 leaf leaves large). The scion is cut and placed in clean water for later use. The fourth is to insert the scion. The scion is cut inwards, and the skin is inserted into the cut of the rootstock (the layer forming the layer), and then the cut skin of the rootstock is overlaid on the short cut surface of the scion, so that the skins of the two sides are well attached. The fifth is banding scion. With a 1-1.5 cm wide plastic film tape, lashing the interface from top to bottom and taking care to prevent scion movement and shade moisturizing.

5, management after grafting

(1) Cleavage: The healing condition should be observed in a timely manner 20-30 days after grafting. The well-healed plant should cut 1/2-2/3 of the original rootstock with a small saw at 2-3 cm. Its pressure is low. Generally do not immediately cut off the trunk, because the scion has no ability to absorb nutrients, the back part of the main trunk continues to absorb water and nutrients for scion growth, 70 days after the scion bud began to sprout, then the trunk can be cut off. (2) Loosening: When the scion bud grows, the original sealed bandaged membrane can be released. About 20 days later, the tightly straps were severed to normal growth and development. (3) In addition to budding: The buds on the rootstock grafted with high-yield rootstock are numerous and grow fast and must be removed in time. Otherwise, the growth of the scion will be affected, and the light growth will cause the growth to be slow, and the weight will be dry and yellow. In addition to sprouting until the scion grows dominant. (4) Reshaping: After grafting to survive, appropriate plastic surgery should be used to tie the directional plastic surgery with the rope according to the needs of the position of the Camellia tree and branches.
