In the basic experiment, the researchers gave mice a high-fat, high-sugar diet and then fed the offspring of the mice to a standard diet. It was found that even if the diet of the offspring is healthy, metabolic problems such as insulin resistance will occur to a large extent. In addition, the researchers also observed mitochondrial dysfunction in mouse skeletal muscle.
