Fig storage and freshness

Fig is a genus of figs of the genus. It is native to tropical and subtropical regions. It was reportedly introduced into China around the 8th century. It was first planted in southern Xinjiang and is now widely cultivated in Shanghai and Yantai.
Fig fruit contains 81.3% of water, 1.5% of protein, 0.1% of fat, and 13.0% of carbohydrates. Sugar content in dried fruits is about 75%. Fig also contains a lot of vitamin A and vitamin C, which has certain medical nutritional value. Fig can also make processed products such as sauce and candied fruit with unique flavor.
Figs are easy to reproduce, the results are earlier, and the maturity period is longer. There are about 5 months of time each year to continuously supply the market needs.
(1) Storage Characteristics and Variety 1 Storage Characteristics Fully ripe figs are relatively soft, resistant to transportation and storage, and vulnerable and rot. In order to prolong the storage period, harvesting should be carried out on a dry sunny day. The hand should be picked and the handle should be placed flat in the box. The capacity should not be too large (usually 10 to 15 kg) to prevent squeezing and rot. Immediately after the harvest, it is pre-cooled to near 0°C and stored at -0.5 to 0°C and 85% to 90% relative humidity. The above conditions can guarantee a 7 to 10 day sales period.
There are more than 600 varieties of figs in the 2 varieties, and there are currently about 12 varieties in China. According to the types of flowers and the characteristics of the results, they can be divided into Capri species, Smyrna species, St. Bilo species and common species. At present, most of the cultivated species in China are common species, including Bruneck, Masi-Taufen, Penglai persimmon, card-only, Genoese, brown Turkey, California black, green anti-yellow fruit, purple fruit and so on. Mission figs are black figs with a special flavor. Calimyrna figs are large yellow figs. They are the main varieties of fresh produce.
(2) Suitable storage conditions Temperature -0.5 ~ 0 °C, relative humidity 85% ~ 90%, storage life 7 ~ 10 days.
(3) Storage methods and management measures Fully mature fresh figs are soft, easily damaged and extremely perishable. In order to prolong the storage period, they are immediately precooled to near 0°C after being harvested, and stored at -0.5 to 0°C and 85% to 90% relative humidity. The above conditions can guarantee a 7 to 10 day sales period. Increasing carbon dioxide in the air can be used as an aid to storage.
(4) Precautions and Disease Prevention Measures The most common diseases in the fig selling period are Alternaria spp., Aspergillus spp. and soft rot. Alternaria spores can be produced when figs still grow on the tree and continue to develop during storage, especially around 0°C, which greatly damages the appearance of the fruit.
