How to prevent esophageal obstruction in large animals

The esophageal obstruction disease of large livestock mostly occurs during the harvest season of late autumn block crops. The main reason is that large animals eat raw sweet potatoes, carrots, potatoes, or green corn cobs, etc. This disease occurs due to rushing to eat and swallowing and obstructing the esophagus. After the occurrence of this disease, coughing and phlegm are repeated and the vomiting or swallowing actions are performed continuously. If the obstruction is not eliminated, the bulging situation continues to increase, and the cows are uncomfortable.

Control methods:

(1) Strengthen the management of large livestock and do not allow them to eat freely. When feeding large animals with block feeds, they must be fully crushed or chopped before feeding.

(2) 0.2 mg of pilocarpine hydrochloride, 5 ml of physiological saline or distilled water, made into a solution, a subcutaneous injection, can cause increased endocrine, and facilitate the discharge or descending of obstruction.
