Timely control of wheat powdery mildew

Wheat powdery mildew is a common disease in Pixian County. The disease is caused by fungi, and the mycelium overwinters on winter wheat seedlings, which mainly damages the leaves, leading to early leaf withdraw, reduced spike rate and 1000-grain weight. In recent years, due to the influence of variety, cultivation system, fertilizer, and weather conditions, powdery mildew has a wide range of occurrence and heavy infection. The temperature in early spring has picked up. After the return of green wheat, the latent wintering germs resume their activities and produce conidia, which are spread through the spread of air currents.

At the onset of the disease, white moldy spots appeared on the leaves of 1 to 2 mm, and they gradually enlarged to form white molds of nearly circular to elliptic shape. There was a layer of white powder on the surface of the molds and they immediately scattered when subjected to external force or vibration. In severe cases, most or all of the foliage may be covered, and the damaged leaves may turn yellow and dry in the early stages. The mildew layer of the late disease became pale to light brown, and the disease can invade the various parts of the wheat plant's shoots, but the leaves and sheaths are the main components. The glume and awn can also be affected when the disease is heavy.

According to a survey conducted by the Plant Protection Station on April 10-14, the incidence of land parcels accounted for 5.3%, and the site of occurrence was the lower leaf. The average diseased leaf rate was 1.2%, and the highest diseased leaf rate was 3.1%, which mainly occurred in the large-scale wheat group and the Yutai block. In general, the mid-to-late April (ear booting period) is the appropriate period for prevention and control. If it is not controlled in time, it will affect wheat production to varying degrees. It is hoped that all towns and villages will take active actions to organize farmers to use the specialized prevention and control organizations for pests and diseases, and jointly implement prevention and control of pest control.

Control methods: Apply 25% triadimefone emulsifiable concentrate 40g per acre, add 30~50kg of water evenly spray, or use 70% thiophanate-methyl WP 50g, add water 30kg, or use 25% carbendazim 100g, add 30kg water Spray control; generally spray two intervals of 10 days, the control effect of about 90%.
