The safe wintering of pool fish requires "five defenses"

After entering the winter, the weather is cold and many places have a long frozen period. This is extremely unfavorable for the safe wintering of the fish cultured in fishponds.
In order to enable the fish to safely pass through the winter, in the cold season, the management of pond fish must be “five”:
As soon as the water in the pool is too shallow, it enters the winter. When the surface of the water in the fish pond is frozen, the water temperature in the pool is low. In addition, due to the influence of temperature and sunlight, the stratification phenomenon usually occurs. Generally, the water temperature is about 1 meter below the water surface. °C ~ 3 °C, from 1 meter down, the water temperature will gradually increase. Therefore, fish tend to accumulate in the deep water of fish ponds in winter. In view of this situation, the frozen water layer in winter fish ponds should maintain a water depth of 1.5 to 2 meters and should not be too shallow. Always check the water level below the ice in the fish pond and find that when the water depth is less than 1.5 meters, the fish pond is filled with water in a timely manner.
In the winter, the growth rate of fish is reduced, the appetite is reduced, and the feeding of feeds must be reduced accordingly. If the feed is overworked, it will not only waste food, increase feed costs, but also affect water quality and hinder the growth of fish. Therefore, in winter, when the surface water temperature of the pool water is about 3°C, the feed can be fed once every 7 days. The feed amount is 3% to 5% of the fish weight, and no feeding or overfeeding is possible. If the surface water temperature of pool water is below 0°C, the number and quantity of feeds must be reduced accordingly.
In the winter, the water quality of the fish pond still needs to have a certain degree of fat so that the plankton can have rich dissolved oxygen in the water under photosynthesis. Therefore, under normal circumstances, the winter fish pond water quality can only be moderate, the transparency should reach 30 cm to 40 cm. If the water quality is too fat, new water should be added for adjustment. If the fatness is low, 25 kg of manure or 1 kg of urea can be applied per acre.
Anti-icing and snowfall In winter, the water surface of the fish pond is frozen and then snowing occurs. The snow accumulates on the ice and seriously affects the penetration of sunlight. Therefore, when the snow falls during the winter, if the snow on the pond ice surface is too thick, it will affect the metabolism and photosynthesis of the plankton in the water, resulting in a decrease in dissolved oxygen in the water. For this reason, after each heavy snowfall, measures must be taken to clear the snow on the ice to maintain the transparency of the ice and to avoid affecting the dissolved oxygen in the fish pond water. If the surface of the fish pond is too iced, it is necessary to create holes in the ice to ensure that the fish in the water have sufficient oxygen to prevent the death of hypoxia.
When the fish in the fish pond enters the wintering period, the food intake drops sharply, and even they basically stop feeding and are in a quiet state. In this case, on the water surface and around the fish pond, vehicles should be avoided to make noises, knocking, drumming, firecrackers, and people gliding on the ice to prevent fish from fleeing after being frightened and hindering growth.
