flight
Captured this breathtaking shot during our flight home last night using my iPhone.

Oh man, the sky was absolutely stunning last night as we were flying back home. I couldn’t help but wish Aliyah could’ve seen it too since she loves gazing out the window when we fly. She spent the past three nights at my parents’ place while we went on a little trip with Brayden to the D.C. area. Honestly, I think she had a blast! She kept talking about how she couldn’t wait to go to grandma’s house—like, she gets to eat Lucky Charms for breakfast and doesn’t even have to wash her hands first. I swear, she practically skipped out of the car when we dropped her off. I guess she thinks being at grandma’s is basically heaven on earth.

But oh, how I missed her. Her sweet little voice on the phone every evening wasn’t quite the same as seeing her face-to-face again. We actually ended up coming home earlier than planned because she decided to surprise us by hitching a ride to the airport to pick us up. It was such a thoughtful gesture, but boy, did it give us quite the scare! The second we landed, I called my mom to double-check if she was already there, and… well, she wasn’t. My heart nearly stopped until my brother finally confessed that he’d picked her up and was keeping her hidden away so she could surprise us. He sent a text saying, “Don’t ruin the surprise,” and we had to play along. When we saw her standing there waiting for us, my husband and I acted super surprised—it was honestly the most adorable moment ever—but then… chaos ensued. She hugged me so tightly, and I must’ve squeezed her just a *little* too hard because guess what? She threw up all over me and the floor. Classic Aliyah, right?

Despite the mess, it was one of those moments that made me realize how much I adore her. Life with kids is unpredictable, isn’t it? One minute you’re basking in the beauty of the sunset, and the next you’re knee-deep in spilled milk or, in this case, something slightly more… unexpected. But you know what? That’s exactly why I wouldn’t trade it for anything else. There’s something magical about watching their little personalities bloom, even if it involves a bit of chaos.

Now, here we are, sitting together, enjoying this peaceful moment with the serene sunset photo still fresh in our minds. It feels like the calm before the storm of raising two active kids, but honestly? Bring on the storm. At least it means they’re growing, thriving, and making memories—ones that will probably involve more surprises, laughter, and maybe even some more… ahem… “moments.”

And yes, that really did happen. Welcome home, indeed!
