Hitachi Group of Japan developed ultrasonic breast cancer detection technology

Release date: 2017-06-02

On May 24th, Hitachi Group of Japan developed a new high-precision ultrasonic breast cancer detection technology, which only allows patients to immerse their breasts in a water-filled test instrument for cancer examination.

According to the report, the previous breast cancer detection technology is to irradiate the breast with ultrasound from one direction. Whether the tumor can be detected will be affected by the level of the person; but the new technology uses 360-degree omnidirectional illumination in the ring device. The accuracy is greatly improved, and the tumor can be reflected in more detail. In addition, unlike X-ray fluoroscopy, this test does not require the chest to be squeezed, which can protect the patient from pain.

Kenichi Kawasaki of the Hitachi Group Basic Research Center said: "The purpose of developing this technology is not only to simplify the procedure, improve the accuracy, but also to prevent the test results from being interfered by human factors." Hitachi and Hokkaido University Hospital jointly R&D, the goal is to put it into practice in 2020.
