In July July, the export of aquatic products in Zhaoqing, Guangdong Province soared and the export of tilapia turned 67 times

The author learned from Guangdong's Zhaoqing Customs that in the first 7 months of this year, Zhaoqing City exported 8804 tons of water and marine products, and the total value of exports was US$ 25,860,000, a substantial increase of 6 times and 7.7 times over the same period of last year.

The water and seafood products exported from Zhaoqing City are all exported by general trade, among which frozen tilapia and frozen tilapia fillets are the main export varieties. In the first 7 months of this year, the city exported 2,336 tons of frozen tilapia and 6,464 tons of frozen tilapia, both 3.9 times and 7.5 times higher than the same period of last year. In the export direction, the United States and Mexico are the major export markets. The United States alone accounted for 78.8% of the export volume. The United States and Mexico together accounted for 91.8% of the total exports of Zhaoqing in the same period. In terms of export enterprises, the export of private enterprises and foreign-invested enterprises has been “half the share”. The city’s private enterprises exported 4,780 tons of water and seafood, a substantial increase of 10.3 times, accounting for 54.3% of the total; foreign-invested enterprises exported 4020 tons, an increase 4 times, accounting for 45.7% of the total.

However, relevant experts believe that the increase in production costs, especially feed prices, has greatly reduced the profitability of Zhaoqing water and seafood exports.
