Those who have not been peeled are yellowish or white in appearance; those who are peeled are white with powder. The body is dense gray stripes, the top is dense, the pattern is often ring pattern, deeper. Quality pine, cut yellow-white surface, fine chrysanthemum heart texture. Imported cultivated products are called ginseng, and generally have large branches, no reed heads and fibrous roots, but there are one or two branch forks. The body is more straight-lined, and the cut surface is yellow-white, heart-shaped, without chrysanthemum pattern.
Domestically introduced American ginseng is cylindrical, 3 to 10 cm long, 0.5 to 2 cm in diameter, and has no head, roots, and fibrous roots. The surface is light yellow-brown or yellow with delicate skin. There are dense transverse rings on the upper part, all have vertical wrinkles and scars, and are generally slender and slightly uplifted. The texture is heavy, the fracture section is flat, yellowish-white, and the formation of deeper layers near the ring, scattered with most of the red-brown dots, radial texture is obvious. Gas is slightly fragrant, taste bitter, and sweet.
Third, the dried ginseng roots of the same family of plant ginseng have been processed and pseudo-filled with American ginseng.
Traits: Cylindrical or spindle-shaped, with reed heads and whiskered roots. The upper or the entire roots have intermittent annular stripes. The cross-section of chrysanthemum is not obvious, pale brown to light grayish brown. It is 5 to 15 cm long and 1 to 2 cm in diameter. Light foam texture. The gas was light, and the taste was slightly bitter after it was light.
