How to distinguish between genuine and fake ginseng

Korean ginseng is a good medicine for winter tonic. It can not only replenish qi and blood, but also enhance immunity, anti-tumor, anti-aging, and enhance learning and memory. Some of the products in the market are sub-optimized and counterfeit. If the citizens accidentally carelessly, they may pay high prices for "parallel imports." Experts pointed out that the three major characteristics of the Korean ginseng, "horseshoe reeds, general shoulders, and yellow robes" are not available on the surface of counterfeit ginseng. The people can use this characteristic to distinguish the true and false of ginseng.

Korean ginseng traits:

According to the naked eye, the authentic Korean ginseng is light yellowish white, and the main root, branch root, and fibrous root grow well and are evenly developed. Authentic Korean ginseng has a full and well-developed head. After cutting, it has a high density and resilience, a clear shape, and a rich aroma; while the fake head stem licks and loosens easily after being cut, not only has no fixed form but also has a very light fragrance.

It is a dry product with stem ginseng after cooking. Surface brown or reddish brown, opaque. The body is fuller, about 6-10 cm long, 1-2 cm in diameter, flat at the top, and some are connected with two forked double horseshoe reeds, and some single reed heads, called "single bowl of reeds." The head of the reed is thick, and the middle of each reed bowl is concave, with neat edges. Specimens are pressed into a square shape due to packaging and processing, and the junction with Lutou is not concave and the lower end is flat and round. Quality, weight, cross-section horny light, chrysanthemum pattern. Strong gas, sweet and bitter.

There are 3 more prominent characteristics of Korean ginseng, namely, "horseshoes reed (refers to the double reed head, like a horse's hoof, looks at both sides flush with the shoulder), "general shoulder" (refers to the lower part of the reed to the lower part of the common red ginseng wide ), "Yellow robes" (refers to the upper part of the main root has dense, detailed, uniform yellow fine points).

The surface of the ginseng fake product does not have these characteristics. The reeds are mostly artificially connected and the cross section does not have a complete color ring. In addition, the common counterfeit goods include the roots of "Pinglu" or "American Pokeweed", and the roots of "Tongseng" and "Purple Jasmine."
