Common Diseases and Insect Pests of Cherry Farming

In general, cherry blossoms should mainly prevent leeches and root nodules as well as insect pests such as aphids, red spiders, and scale insects. Glue disease is caused by moths drilling into the trunk to spawn eggs. They can use diggers to dig eggs, improve soil, and strengthen water and fertilizer management. Rhizoma disease causes the roots of diseased trees to fail to grow normally. The tree is not robust no matter how fertilized it.

The tumor should be promptly resected and the soil should be disinfected. The soil should be treated with humus, charcoal powder and microbes. For locusts, red spiders, scale insects and other pests should be the main prevention, spraying 3-4 times a year, the first time before flowering, the second after the flower, the third time in July-August.

There are many kinds of cherry pests and diseases, and the common pests and diseases are described as follows:

Perforated brown spot

Occurs from May to June, the leaves appear purple-brown dots, and then gradually expand into a round shape. The diseased parts become dry, shrink and become small holes, and the pathogens mostly live on the diseased leaves. The optimal temperature for development is 25-28. °C, spread by the wind, in the rainy season is conducive to the incidence of infestation, tree weakness, poor drainage, poor ventilation and light transmission, the disease is serious.

Control methods:

(1) Strengthen the cultivation and management, rational pruning, and take care to cut off the diseased shoots, remove the diseased leaves in time and burn them, so as to create a clean growth condition for the plants.

(2) Before germination of the new shoot, 3-5 Baume degree lime sulfur can be sprayed, and 160 times Bordeaux mixture or 50% Benzene wettable powder 1000-2000 times liquid, or 15% zeocin 600 can be sprayed in the onset. -800 times liquid.

Leaf blight

Yellow-green round spots appeared on the leaves in summer, and then turned brown, scattered with small black spots. The diseased leaves died but did not fall off.

Control methods:

(1) Remove and incinerate diseased leaves and spray Bordeaux mixture before germination.

(2) From May to June, spray 65% zein zinc WP 500-600 times, spray once every 7-10 days, even spray 2-3 times.

Root Cancer

Occur mainly at the base of the trunk, sometimes at the root neck or lateral roots. The diseased area produces tumors. It is initially milky or flesh-colored, gradually turning brown or dark brown, spherical, rough surface, uneven, with cracks, after the disease. The roots are poorly developed, with few fine roots, slow growth above the ground, and declining tree vigor. In severe cases, the leaves yellow, fall early, and even the whole plant withers.

Control methods:

(1) Seedlings that have root-carcinogenic disease must be completely destroyed. Seedlings should be soaked in 1% copper sulphate for 5-10 minutes before planting, then washed with water, and then planted.

(2) Found a diseased plant can be used to completely remove the cancerous tumor and its surrounding tissue.

(3) The soil around the diseased plants can also be disinfected with sulphur powder at a dosage of 50-100 g/m2. At the same time pay attention to soil improvement.
