Vitamin D deficiency can easily lead to stress fracture

Stress fractures are usually injuries that occur during physical activity, and stress fractures occur when the pressure on the bone is greater than the maximum pressure it can withstand. The researchers analyzed the medical records of 124 patients with stress fractures diagnosed by Dr. Miller from 2011 to 2014. The results showed that the average serum 25-hydrated vitamin D in the three-month period of 53 patients was 31.1. Ng/ml. Of these, 44 patients had a content of less than 40 ng/ml. According to the vitamin D committee standard, this value indicates insufficient vitamin D. In addition, 28 patients had a vitamin D content of less than 30 ng/ml.
One third of the patients had a stress fracture in the second phalanx and 17.6% had a stress fracture in the third metatarsal.
"The association between the content of 25-hydrated vitamin D and stress fractures has been reported before. They suggest that the lowest vitamin D content in serum should not be lower than 40 ng/mg, especially for people with greater physical activity." .
