Acupuncture treatment has a reversal effect on insulin resistance

Release date: 2007-03-21

Acupuncture treatment has a reversal effect on insulin resistance. Insulin resistance (IR) is a widespread pathophysiological change, which is closely related to diabetes, hypertension, obesity, coronary heart disease and cerebrovascular accident, and may become a common disease of the above diseases. basis. There is no specific drug for the treatment of insulin resistance, mainly through comprehensive therapy such as diet therapy and exercise therapy to improve the body's utilization of insulin. Recently, Dr. Yi, Sun Jian, Xu Nenggui, and Xie Changcai from Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine examined the effects of acupuncture on the morphology of liver and pancreas in insulin resistance rats and the influence of dietary factors on acupuncture treatment. It has been found that acupuncture can reverse hyperglycemia and hyperinsulinemia in insulin-resistant rats and increase insulin sensitivity index. In combination with dietary adjustment in acupuncture treatment, the effect of acupuncture on insulin resistance can be enhanced.
Throughout the experiment, the researchers used 40 SD rats (body weight 180-220 g) with common feed (recipe 31% corn, 18% wheat, 21% soybean meal, 4% rice, 2% soybean, 2 bran 10). %, 3% egg yolk powder, 6% fish meal, 3.5% premix, 1.5% vegetable oil, 1% multivitamin) 1 week of adaptive feeding, then randomly divided into 5 groups according to body weight, 8 in each group, respectively Group, model 1 group, model 2 group, acupuncture 1 group and acupuncture 2 groups. The blank group was fed with normal feed, and the other groups were fed with high fat, high sugar and high salt feed. From the 6th week, the rats in the blank group and the model 1 group were blooded once from the orbital sinus every 1 week, and fasting blood glucose (FBG) and plasma insulin (INS) were detected. After the 8th week, the blank group continued to feed with normal feed for two weeks; the model 1 group continued to feed with high-fat, high-sugar, high-salt feed for two weeks; the model 2 group was fed with normal feed for two weeks; the acupuncture group 1 continued with high fat. High-sugar and high-salt feeds were fed for two weeks, and acupuncture treatment was given once a day. Acupuncture 2 groups were given normal feed for two weeks, and acupuncture treatment was given once a day. Acupuncture points were selected from bilateral Neiguan, Zusanli, Sanyinjiao and Shenshu, Neiguan, Zusanli and Sanyinjiao were 8 mm along the skin, and Shenshu was 5 mm. Electroacupuncture was given at Neiguan and Zusanli points. , sparse wave, 3 ~ 5 Hz, each treatment for 20 minutes, once a day, continuous treatment for two weeks. Rats in each group were fasted for 12 hours after the end of treatment, and the blood was taken from the orbital sinus the next morning to detect fasting blood glucose and plasma insulin.
The results showed that after 8 weeks of feeding with high-fat, high-sugar and high-salt diet, fasting blood glucose and plasma insulin in model 1 group were significantly higher than those in the blank group (P<0.01). After two weeks of treatment, the fasting blood glucose and plasma insulin in the model 2 group, the acupuncture group 1 and the acupuncture group 2 were significantly different from those in the model group 1 (P<0.01, P<0.05). There were significant differences in fasting blood glucose and plasma insulin between the two groups (P<0.05).
â–  Reversible IR rat hepatocyte degeneration
The morphological observation of the liver showed that the hepatic lobule structure of the blank group was clear, the boundary plate was smooth, the hepatic cell line was arranged regularly, and the sinusoidal endothelial cells, the lipid storage cells and the Kupffer cells were not proliferated; the hepatocyte cytoplasm was red stained and the nucleus was in the middle. The structure of the portal area is clear, the bile duct is not damaged, and no fibrous tissue is found in the connective tissue. In model group 1, there was obvious fatty degeneration. Large and empty vacuoles appeared in the cytoplasm of hepatocytes. The nucleus was squeezed into the peripheral part of the cytoplasm by a large number of lipid droplets. Small focal necrosis was observed in some liver tissues. Obvious water-like degeneration, increased cell volume, hepatic sinus pressure, and dilated and hyperemic changes in the portal area, and some specimens showed infiltration of inflammatory cells in the portal area and peripheral parts of the lobules. Model 2 had a mild degree of cellular edema or watery degeneration, cytoplasmic loosening and ballooning, and two of the specimens were accompanied by hepatic lobular steatosis at the same time as cell water-like degeneration. Two of the acupuncture group 1 were basically normal, and the other 6 liver cells had mild to moderate steatosis. No hepatocyte water-like degeneration was observed. Two of the two patients had small hepatic cell necrosis, and the necrotic area and the portal area were visible. Mild inflammatory cell infiltration. Four of the acupuncture group 2 were basically normal, and the other 4 cases had cell water-like degeneration. Two of them were accompanied by hepatic steatosis, and mild inflammatory cell infiltration was observed in the portal area. It can be seen that acupuncture can reverse the steatosis and water-like degeneration of hepatocytes in insulin-resistant rats, and dietary adjustment also has this effect, and the reversal effect is stronger with the application of the two.
â–  Reversible islet cell morphology abnormalities
The morphological observation of the pancreas showed that the exocrine part of all pancreas samples had a clear structure, the acinar structure was normal, the acinar cells were conical, no bleeding or necrosis was seen; the pancreatic ducts were scattered, no necrosis was observed in the lumen, and no Obstruction, no necrosis of the catheter epithelium. The morphology and distribution of the islets in the blank group, the model 2 group, the acupuncture group 1 and the acupuncture group 2 were normal. The number of cells in the central part of the islet was more, the size was more consistent, the nucleus was in the middle, the cytoplasm was evenly distributed, and no atrophy or degeneration was observed. Or necrosis; while in model 1 group, the cells in the islets were significantly reduced, the individual cells were reduced in size, the cytoplasm was red stained, and the nuclear staining was deepened. Therefore, acupuncture can increase the number of cells in the islets of insulin-resistant rats, and reverse the abnormalities of their morphology, such as cell volume shrinkage, cytoplasmic red staining, nuclear staining deepening, etc. Dietary adjustment also has this effect.
According to the researchers, the theory of meridians of traditional Chinese medicine believes that Neiguan is a complex point of the hand-filled yin heart, one of the eight-pulse intersection points, which passes through the Yinwei vein, has the effect of regulating qi and activating blood, and good governance of visceral air-condition disorders; Zusanli is the joint point of the foot-yangming stomach, the acupoints under the stomach, the stomach, the foot, the yang, the pulse, the place where the stomach gathers, the thorn has the benefits of qi and spleen, and the stomach and phlegm. Sanyinjiao is the rendezvous point of the three yin yin, with the effect of strengthening the spleen, soothing the liver and benefiting the kidney. It is the main disease of the liver, spleen and kidney. It is also the point of qi and blood circulation; Shenshu is the back of the kidney. Acupoints, for the kidney gas infusion on the back, the stab to help the congenital, with the benefits of kidney, Tongyang Lishui. The common points of the acupoints, the treatment of both the symptoms and the symptoms, the virtual and the same, and the effect of "spleen and kidney, blood circulation". The hyperlipidemia in modern medicine and the resulting coronary heart disease, cerebral arteriosclerosis, stroke, diabetes and other diseases are related to the dysfunction of the spleen and stomach and the dysfunction of water-wet metabolism, and the blockage of the viscera. Acupoint treatment can produce better curative effect on insulin resistance.

The greenhouse a filled with equipment like hydroponic, irrigation, auxiliary lighting ,temperature and humidity control and also may be automatically controlled by a computer to maximize potential growth.
Hydroponics can be used to make the most use of the interior space. The relatively closed environment of a greenhouse has its own unique management requirements, compared with outdoor production. Pests and diseases, and extremes of heat and humidity, have to be controlled, and irrigation is necessary to provide water. Most greenhouses use sprinklers or drip lines. Significant inputs of heat and light may be required, particularly with winter production of warm-weather vegetables.
